Technical Lead, Electronic Component Testing

Purpose & Objective :

  • The Lead of Electronic Testing Laboratory will be responsible for establishing a completely new electronic testing lab from the ground up, followed by the subsequent leadership, operation, and continuous development of the laboratory.
  • During the initial phase, the role will focus heavily on lab concept development, infrastructure definition, equipment selection, and process setup. Once operational, the role transitions to owning the lab’s technical direction, reliability testing strategy, team leadership, and ongoing improvement of advanced electronic testing capabilities.

This position requires strong expertise in electronic component testing and reliability engineering—including Accelerated Life Testing (ALT)—combined with hands‑on experience in developing custom test equipment and automated test solutions.

Core Areas of Responsibility/Accountability

Phase 1: New Electronic Test Laboratory Setup

  • Lead the end‑to‑end creation of a new electronic component testing laboratory, from concept and design through commissioning and operational readiness.
  • Define lab layout, infrastructure, utilities, environmental controls, ESD protection, and safety requirements.
  • Specify, select, procure, install, and qualify test equipment, environmental chambers, instrumentation, fixtures, and data acquisition systems.
  • Establish laboratory processes, workflows, documentation standards, calibration procedures, and quality systems from the ground up.
  • Define scalable test architectures and automation frameworks to support future growth and evolving test requirements.
  • Support facility startup, ramp‑up activities, and transition into stable routine operation.

Phase 2: Laboratory Leadership & Operations

  • Lead and continuously develop the electronic testing lab, including personnel, equipment, processes, and safety standards.
  • Define and execute the laboratory’s long‑term testing strategy aligned with product reliability, qualification, and business goals.
  • Act as the technical authority for electronic testing and reliability within the organization.

 

Cross-functional Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate closely with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams across the full product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with the Centralized Component Management (CCM) function for introduction/qualification of new/alternate parts.
  • Collaborate with external partners such as EMS/CM as well as 3rd party test laboratories
  • Support product development, qualification, and release through appropriate testing strategies.
  • Introduce new testing technologies, methods, and best practices as the lab matures.
  • Support audits, certifications, and customer or regulatory testing activities.

 

People & Resource Management

  • Recruit, build, and develop a high‑performing team of test engineers and technicians.
  • Define training and capability‑development plans for the laboratory team.
  • Manage lab budgets, capital investments, and relationships with external test partners and suppliers.

Performance Measurement, Monitoring and Reporting

  • Establish and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks to assess, measure and track efficiency.

Ensure testing objectives are met or exceeded and that continuous improvement is embedded in the organization's culture.

  • In-depth knowledge of the electronic devices manufacturing industry or adjacent industries.
  • Proven track record of leadership in within a global organization
  • Strong expertise in Accelerated Lifetime Testing (ALT) and accelerated stress testing methodologies.
  • Hands‑on experience developing electronic test systems and custom test equipment.
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming/scripting languages for test automation.
  • Solid understanding of electronic measurement principles, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
  • Very good oral/written English

Educational / Professional or Vocational Qualifications :

  • Higher or university education in Electronics, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar
  • Component testing expertise is considered a strong pre
  • Willingness to travel (10-20%)
  • Experience Range - 10 to 12 years and minimum 7 plus years in managing lab & Testing.
