Industrial Engineer

Overall Objective

The successful candidate will be a key member of the Industrial Engineering - Constructions team, with primary responsibility for the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of automated production lines for smart electricity & gas meters.

The role combines mechanical design, industrial automation, equipment upgrades, and technical execution, supporting the modernization and optimization of manufacturing equipment, in line with Operational Excellence objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Design & Development

  • Transform ideas and technical requirements into practical industrial solutions, automated equipment, and production lines for electricity and gas meters.
  • Design industrial solutions, automated workstations and fixtures.
  • Create 3D models of components, assemblies, machine bases, and production equipment.
  • Convert 3D models into detailed engineering drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Ensure the functionality, manufacturability, and performance of engineering designs prior to release for production.

 

Equipment Upgrades & Continuous Improvement

  • Manage modifications, upgrades, and continuous improvement activities for production equipment and automated stations developed internally by the Constructions Department.
  • Evaluate existing equipment and identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Support Operational Excellence (OpEx) initiatives through engineering solutions focused on waste reduction, process optimization, workplace design and efficiency improvement.

 

Project Management & Implementation 

  • Coordinate with NPI (New Product Introduction), Maintenance, and EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) teams to ensure the successful installation, commissioning, validation, and handover of new equipment and production lines.
  • Participate throughout the entire project lifecycle, from concept development and design through implementation and production start-up.
  • Contribute to factory layout improvement projects and manufacturing process optimization initiatives.

 

Supplier/OEM Coordination 

  • Request and technically evaluate commercial quotations based on technical specifications & requirements.
  • Coordinate with external partners and equipment suppliers during the design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, and final acceptance phases.
  • Support FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test) activities.

 

Risk Assessments & Safety

  • Participate in risk assessments for new and existing manufacturing equipment.
  • Support machine safety assessments and compliance with applicable safety standards and company requirements.
  • Participate in FMEA, hazard analysis, and risk mitigation activities related to equipment design and modifications.

 

Required Qualifications

 

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a University or Technological Educational Institute.

 

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the design, implementation of upgrade/modification of manufacturing equipment and automated production systems supporting continuous improvement projects.
  • Experience coordinating technical projects involving internal teams and external suppliers or OEMs.

 

Technical Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles & rules, engineering drawings, industrial materials, and machining processes.
  • Knowledge of industrial automation equipment consisting of pneumatic systems and electromechanical assemblies.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) principles.
  • Knowledge of CE marking requirements, machine safety standards, risk assessment methodologies, and equipment compliance processes will be considered an advantage.

 

Software Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of CAD software, preferably Creo Parametric, Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD.

 

Languages 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
